This retail website (https://madetolather.com) and all of its content are owned by Made to Lather, which is owned by Patricia Monk.

Below you will find our privacy policy which describes how we collect, use and process the information we collect about you.  We do not use or share your information with anyone except as described below.

If any changes are made to our policy, you will be notified by email and it will be placed prominently on our website.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

We reserve the right to delete any comment.  We will delete any comment that is rude, spam, defamatory, abusive, threatening, pornographic, misleading or otherwise inappropriate for Made to Lather.

You retain the ownership of your comments.  Made to Lather disclaims any and all liability that may result from your comments on Made to Lather.  By commenting, you agree that your retail all ownership of your comments and that you relieve us from any and all liability that may result from those comments.

By leaving a comment you grant us license to post your comments.  This license is world-wide, irrevocable, non-exclusive and royalty-free.  You grant me to use, store, display, transmit, publish, reproduce and distribute your comments in any format.  These may include, but are not limited to brochures, blog posts, social media posts, books, or presentations.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

When you submit a contact form on our website, we collect the data shown in the contact form as well as your IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam.

After you submit a contact form, an email with that information is emailed to us at [email protected] so that we can read and respond to your message.  The submitted information is kept securely in our database and email service for two years.  After that, it is deleted from our system. 

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Shopping

Shopping cart contents.  We store a copy of your cart in our database for 2 weeks to improve your shopping experience and remind you of what your cart’s contents.

Shipping address.  We use your shipping address to estimate shipping costs and taxes before you place your order and when you send your order.

If you make a purchase, we will ask you to provide your name, billing address, shipping address, email address, phone number, credit card/payment information and account information like username and password.  We use this information to:

Send you information about your account and orders placed.

Respond to your requests, questions, or comments.

Process payments and prevent fraud.

Set up your account for our store.

Comply with any legal obligations we may have, including calculating taxes.

Send you marketing emails should you choose to receive them.

If you do create an account, we will store your name, address, email address and phone number.  This information will be used to populate your future order checkout information.  You can edit or change this information at any time in your account dashboard.

We store information for as long as is required for the purposes that we collected it, and not legally required to keep it.  For example, your order information is stored for four years for tax and accounting purposes.  This information includes: your name, email address, shipping address, billing address.  If you would like it deleted at any time, just contact us with that request.

Store/Product Reviews.  We store all store/product reviews if you choose to leave them.  We appreciate any reviews you leave, as it helps other customers with making decisions about products.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Communication

If you sign up for our email newsletters, we may use your personal information to provide you with product updates or marketing communications that we believe may be of interest to you.  We try to stick to a once a month email schedule, but sometimes it may change.

If you no longer wish to receive emails from us after subscribing, you may opt-out by clicking on the unsubscribe link at the bottom of our emails. 

We store a log of select communication that we have with you.  We keep these logs to improve our communication and marketing with you and other customers.  These logs are retained indefinitely, unless you request your data to be removed.

Analytics

Like most websites, we collect non-identifying information, such as language, browser type, referring site and time and date of each visitor request.  We collect this information to better understand how our customers use our website, in order to improve it.

We may collect details about your behavior on our website.  For example, we monitor the most used pages on the website, to help us with content creation.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

If you begin to place an order and abandon your cart, cancel the order, or fail to complete the order, your order will be deleted after thirty days.

If you fully complete and order, we delete the order information after 4 years.  We keep it for four years in order to comply with tax laws.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Your user information, including account information and user data is stored in our web host’s secure database.  If you are an email subscriber, your information is stored in our email service’s secure database.  Comments are submitted through a spam detection service.

How we protect your data

Our website is scanned on a regular basis for security vulnerabilities in order to keep things safe as possible.  Your information is kept behind secure networks and is only accessible by a limited number of people with special access and they are required to keep your information confidential.  Please choose a strong password when creating your account to help with security of your information.

All transactions are protected by SSL encryption technology, processed through a gateway provider and are not stored on our servers.  See our Third-Party disclosure for more information.  

Your information will be processed in the United States, even if you are not located in the United States.

In the event of a data breach, we will contact you and the relevant authorities within 72 hours.

We use Google Analytics for analytical information.  Some of your non-identifying data will be given to Google Analytics to help us improve our website.  Please see Google’s Privacy Policy for more details.

Made to Lather accepts payment through PayPal and Stripe.  When we process a payment, some of your data will be passed to PayPal or Stripe in order to process the payment, such as purchase total and billing information.  Please see PayPal’s and Stripe’s Privacy Policies for more information.

We do not market to or serve children under the age of 18 years. 

Sales Tax Policy

Sales tax is collected by Made to Lather in states where we have a physical presence (or nexus), such as New Mexico and where we are required to. 

Refund Policy

Made to Lather stands behind its product 110% however because of the nature of our personal care products, we cannot accept returns or exchanges on orders. Shipments that have been determined to be lost, after thoroughly researching the package through delivery confirmation tracking, will be replaced. A monetary refund will not be given. Shipments that arrive in damaged condition will be replaced only after the damaged merchandise has been returned to Made to Lather within 10 days of receipt for inspection.  Again, a monetary refund will not be given. If we ship something incorrectly to you, of course these items should be returned to us, and at our cost.
